will this heat my room cheaper

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Unsure, I live in a 2 story house built on 2 normal lands (family of engineers *crazy people*) so its very hard to compare, we have 4 full sized fridges and freezers running 24/7 a 15m swimming pool thats heated and has 2 pumps running every day pumping water from the back of the house to main houses 2nd floor roof so its not really the best to use lol BUT

Before I had my heat pump we would pay 400-600 per a month in summer before that it was around 300-500 depends but never got over 500 in summer as we dont heat being in aus down here, Now in summer we are back to 350-450$ per a month not every 3 months!

During winter we get billed for gas and power as one, I dont really know the exact differences but the bills are around 700-1.2$ per a month when no heat pump, I think I had 25 300W heaters going and it will wasn't really heating up lol! still get crap for selling all those jagers for 25$ too :( anyways now during winter we pay around 500-1k mind you our house has hydronic floor heating which requires a few pumps to push the water etc around we have a dedicated pump room for our house heating just to give an idea + all 4 hot water systems in the house.

Hence its very hard for me to give an exact amount I have saved using a heat pump, My friends who run fishrooms are getting quarter bills for 300$ so my house is not suitable, the pool room alone is bigger then some houses around here. I can say the bill did drop an awful lot once getting the heatpump installed and I know this very well as most of the women I live with stopped complaining :D I do plan to get a KW meter for the fishroom one day but at this stage I have no time to do it.

I bought a 1500w mastercraft fan heater to try this out. As we have 14 tanks running and well over 1000gallons total. It was evident very quickly what the problem with this is.

Air heat transfer is very low. The key is keeping heat in the aquarium.
In my opinion insulating your tanks somehow is were you should start.
