I also use table salt after my water changes. I use a spoonfull per 5 gallons with great results. Good Luck.

You do not use salt unless your fish has health issues otherwise you run the risk of killing all your fish because their osmoregulatory system is damaged gradually by the presence of salt and even developing diseases such as ich resistant to salt thus salt becomes very much useless by the time you have a real need for it. Why would you add salt in your tank for no valid reason?

I heard on this site that adding a little bit of salt each time you do a water change keeps all the water levels balanced and is good for the wellbeing of your fish.

This is a myth being repeated. I've pointed out the reason that most FW fish are not used to the presence of salt long-term due to their osmoregulatory system especially for those that thrive in soft, acidic waters. You also run the risk of developing salt-resistant ich and other pathogens thus this is more trouble than it is worth.

Just out of interest to save any possible lengthy discussions, which salt are we exactly talking about? Sodum chloride? Rift Valley salts? There are a variety of salts around but there is no actual benefit for using pure sodium chloride in the long run, no more no less. In the end, you were only wasting your money and time on unnecessary stuffs.

okay thanks alot for your help. Im gonna stop doing this because the more I think about it the more useless it seems and if they ever get ick I dont know what im gonna do. Thanks for your help. Il not gonna stop immediatley though. Each time Ill put a little les in until I reach zero.

What you must do is gradually increase the water volume replaced every time you change the water until the salt will be removed completely out of the tank to minimize osmotic shock of the fish. Keep the salt inside your cabinet and use it only when needed such as ich cases.
