Will this stand hold a 450gal?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
just cover the top 4 sides with 5/8 or 3/4 ply. the plywood will hold everything together and make it more rigid. no other bracing should be necessary. make the 8' sides one piece if possible and router out the holes if you're going to make doors other than that it should be fine. next time make the horizontal/lateral 2x4s on edge because it's stronger and will flex less.

skin it and go

ya the front back and top will all be one solid piece, sounds like I am ready to go then. I may screw a 2x4 to the vertical middle posts just for extra peace of mind. Now lets just see how long it will take to finish. Thanks all. :)

of course you could add the 2x4 frame on top of the stand and sheet it all at once that would be stronger then building a ply tank alone on top of the stand and sheeting the tank and the stand seperately

Here is the shell done and done, stand, tank and canopy and kinda the filter on the side

I screwed 1 2x4 horizontal to the stand, the tank seems to be alright, once everything is covered in plywood in 4-6 weeks I hope everything should be done and done. I hope. It stands about 5' 6" tall. Dont mind the tiles on the ledge, I am just tooling around on finishing ideas.
