will this work for a 155 gallon tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Dude it will be a hell of a lot cheaper to just make one. Check the DIY section, theres alot of DIY wet/drys and sumps that work great and cost alot less then 120 bucks.

Those are the same dimensions of a 20 gallon high tank. You are going to need more than that for this tank!

A couple of good canisters or a large canister (as in the eheim 2262, less you would need 2) would be good. You want to shoot for 4x turnover for sumps, 5x for canisters (minus eheim filters because they have a lot more media space than similarly flowing filters), and 12x for HOB filters.

My choice would be an eheim 2262 if money was not too much of an issue. If it was, 2 xp3's by rena and an Aquaclear 70. You can get a powerhead instead of the aquaclear but HOB filters are better for aeration.

If you get an aquaclear then order it from drfosterandsmith.com and change the item number from CD to CK and get any aquaclear filter (except for the 110) half off.

i currently have a fx5 and a cascade canister filter both filled with BIOMAX just looking to ge more filtration maybe i will just add another FX5:confused:

joey very clean DIY project..

im still confused after reading the last couple days as to the differences of a WET/DRY and just a SUMP? they look the same to me:confused:

also how do you know where to placce each glass sheet? and how high to place them!?

Wet/drys have a drip plate while sumps dont. Sumps have submerged media and wet/dry has well wet/dry media, if that makes sense. Depending on the design of your wet/dry the dividers/glass sheets are placed diffrently. Joey's wet/dry is diffrent from the kind that i usually see ppl making, maybe he will tell you.

which is better? or is that a question of personal pref?

also my other problem is that the opening to get under my tanks stand is ONLY 26"L x 14"H once its in underneath i have got 27"W what can i do about this where am i gonna find a tank BIG enough for what i need that fit those dimensions? without draining the tank removiing it from the stand placing the sump inside the stand then putting the tank back!!
