What size sump do you think you can fit into your stand without draining your tank and stuff? Remember larger is not alwasys better for wet/drys. Here are some examples of wet/dry that are easy to make, you could use these ideas for your wet/dry

thanks for the links! :D as far as what size pump im not sure? im still having to find a tank to use ALTHOUGH i did pick up 280 bio balls off CL lastnight for cheap! :headbang2

im really restricted because of my stand opening:(:irked:

the tank is 155 gallon what is the MINIMUM size tank i should use for the sump? and i already have a FX5 and cascade 1000 on it

Can you fit atleast a 20-30 gallon sump without draining and taking your tank down? If you can then those I would say would be bare minimum. You need ruffly about 8-10gallons of bio(maybe a little less) for your tank. 20-30 gallon sumps can def hold 10gallons of bio. As for the pump faster is not better. Try getting about 2.5-3x turnover.

ill put in what ever the biggest i can fit thru the opening which isnt very BIG unfortunatly:irked:!! this is what the opening looks like both sides are exactly the same size

I see. Im not sure if you can fit a 20-30 gallon in there. The middle bar where the door meets will be a problem. If you cant then you could either drain your tank and place the sump in from the top. But if thats too much of a pain then you might just want to scrap the whole idea of a wet/dry. A extra canister or 2 would help, some canisters that would work great would be another FX5 or if you have the money, go with a eheim 2260. The 2260 will def solve your problem with bio since it can hold 17liters(i think) of media. Anyways those are your options, either go with the sump or go with another canister.
