From my experience with Senegals (I have 4 plus 4 other species) they are not big fish chasers. I have had one who would actively hunt fish but he was the exception. Rainbows are far too fast for a sen to catch.

What about the jewel? Is he gonna be too aggressive?

Jewels are hit or miss with aggression. I would stay away based on the fact that they are african and I dont like to mix new and old world cichlids. just my opinion though. If you are looking for a tank that has some tetras why not go with a breeding pair of rams and your bleeding hearts, lemon tetras and rainbow shark.

The tank is being stocked around the senegal bichir and the cutteri cichlid. In addition to them is like another cichlid and a schooling fish.

I will probably end up with a firemouth but if anybody has any rarer suggestions plz share. I will be making an order to wetspot on aquabid in the next week.
