i forget
have a brokin 55g im going to expand. dunno how many gallons this will end up being but heres my idea. just tryin to get some quick feed back on if the glass is suitable for this build. it was a standard 55g long.

the idea is use the remaining long pc of glass and a side pc for the front. and the bottom pc of glass for the side. so the tank won't be exctly square but a little more rectangular.

the blue prints you have posted will not work. if those are the blue prints, lol. there is obviolsly no support at all haha

well thats no reason to laugh at someone. did a better job then i have seen from others. but after some bracings i dont see why it wouldnt work.

ya im sure if he had a god bracing plan it should work. we all make a mistake in are first plan. i say go fore it keep us updated.

of coarse its going to have bracing just didin't put it on there. im more worried bout the glass giving out. thats not a detailed blue print, its more of a mock up.

I see no reason why with some proper bracing it won't work. Alexx-w your reply is the kind of attitude we don't need around here. If you can't add something constructive to the conversation you should just shut up.

I think the biggest issue would be with the water height vs. Glass thickness. Just make sure you have a good enough safety factor on the glass thickness, there are plenty of members on here who would be able to help with that. Also nolapete has a build thread where he turned either a 55 or a 90 into a nice size plywood tank, might want to take a look at that. Best of luck to you and keep us updated!

You've got 7.5 gallons per cu'

Hope this helps.

Welcome to mfk!

yeah i wasn't gonna go higher than the tank glass was intended for and im sure the bottom glass is thicker than the sides. im going to just have to break out the tape messure to get the exact dimensions for it. i was going to build this for salt water but i think the startup s gnna be more than the wife will allow =\. probably end up cichlids as bad as i hate it. i know nothing about them. what will go with what.
