I just got a bunch of 2-5 inch Red Devil Cichlids. They were offspring. They are just a light orange and not that bright of an orange. Was wondering, will they remain that color? Was hoping their orange color will improve with age.

when i got mine at 1.5 inches it was a light orange and now at about 8 inches has peeled to about 90% white so i guess ya never really know, unless u know what the parents look like.

It is very hard to predict what the adult coloration will be. The fish in my avatar was a very pale yellowish when it was a baby, so ya never know.

With regards to final adult coloration it's a genetic roll of the dice with the Midas/RD complex. They tend to go through a number of stages when maturing & can morph into a number of colors, and/or color combinations. Some will start off like yours & become far more intense in color as they mature, and some will remain lighter in color for their entire life. All you can really do is grow your juvies out & see where they end up as they mature.

edited to add; Tom's (Aquanero) male is a prime example of the above. :)

depends also on food and conditions. Also fish can change and morph I do not claim to have an exact answer just personal experience I also breed midas for a while and saw that tendency to change but a majority started getting a duller color..
I have seen some brighter ones but less then more

That's weird, everything is working fine for me, both his website, and all of the pics posted in the link above.
