i currently have a 30 gallon long. i have a wisper 30-60 on it right now but it doesnt seem to be "wispering" (its kinda loud). i was thinking about updating to a new ac 70. does anyone know if the ac's are loud and are they better?

IMO, Whispers suck! AquaClear's are among the best hang on filters out there. It's no comparison.
How old is your Whisper? Mine is about 6 months old and it is silent. I cleaned the tube a couple of days ago, but I have yet to need to clean the impeller. Maybe your impeller is seperated from the magnet? If so, push it back together so it will run temporarily, then call Tetra and tell them that you Whisper 60 is loud and that the magnet has seperated from the plastic of your impeller. If it isn't seperated, just give them a call end tell them that your Whisper is loud, and they will probably send you a new tube bag. The tube bag includes a new main tube, impeller, extenstions, and strainer.

Oh, and AC sucks!! They are the most cheaply made piece of $hit I have ever used. They are loud, brittle, and mine spilled gallons of water on the floor due to the overflow not being big enough. Total crap!!

There must be dozens of threads and polls on AC filters, This must be the first time I've ever heard this one. That AC70 will do great for ya, just make sure you run both filters for about 3 weeks to get the new one cycled.
Its true. Mine spilled tons of water on the floor and the bio max disintegrated on top of all that.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I have both, and the Whispers suck. They aren't loud, they just don't enough biomedia. Perhaps your experience with AC was due to user error?
