well.. ive been kinda busy since i posted this thread, but i plan to get an AC70 this weekend.. ive been lookin around and i see websites sell for about.. 25-30 dollars + shipping. but i see on petsmart websirte 27.99, so im thinking print it out and pricematch it at the store and save a little money and i dont gotta wait for it to come in.

I only have a few whispers in operation. I can say they are dependable. I run 2 60s on my 55 gallon which works fine for me. Personally I have not used ac's so I cant comment on them. I perfer canisters now that I have a couple, all in all I think my whispers are better than my Penguins.
Are Whispers good for Cichlids? I know that I absoloutly love them for tropical/goldfish, but I don't know if Cichlids are poop machines or not. I am getting 5 convicts tomorrow!! I am running a Millennium 2000 on my 20 gallon. Will that be enough for my Convicts (160 gph)?

that should be fine as long as you are not overfeeding and keep up on water changes. Cichlids are very messy eaters and will make a mess moreso than waste factories. 5 cons in a 20 gallon may be a problem though, unless its a grow out tank I would only keep 2 in a 20 gallon.
Another vote for the Aqua Clear. I've had Whispers in the past and there is no comparison. AC's are better filters in my opinion, much more versatile, and I think quieter. Mine are even less noisy than my Emeror 400's. I believe this is due to the impeller on the Emperors. I have 10 AC's in various sizes running on 5 different tanks. Most are pushing 10 years old. Very durable filters.
The only time I ever had an overflow onto the floor was with an AC 300 I ran on a 29 gallon feeder goldfish tank. It was my fault. I hadn't done any maintenance on the filter for 3 months. It was filthy and my fault 10 gallons of water got on my carpet, not the unit.
Barring laziness and human error, AC's should never give you any problems. I highly recommend them.

Mine overflowed 3 days later. I just had two very small fantails in my tank, and I only fed them every other day.
