witch plecos have the most intricate designs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They aren't rare or exotic, but I like the 'Common' Gibby and Goldspots.
Easy to look after, and look pretty impressive once they get bigger :D

These are my little fellas.

I like many of the Hypancistrus style designs (include the one above) such as the one in my avatar... L260

I would not advise you get another pleco for the tank if you have a gold nugget pleco in it, "Gold nuggets are territorial to other bottom dwellers and downright vicious to other gold nuggets. This stems from a desire to find and defend the best spawning cave, so take this into account if you plan to introduce these fish into a catfish tank. They do well in a community environment that fits their other requirements. Be careful with adult fish, they can kill each other in a crowded space";

So it wouldn't be fair for the fish to add another pleco to the tank considering this.

All plecos are territorial to other bottom dwellers... particularly other nocturnal species. I keep and have kept different species of Baryancistrus sp. 'gold nugget' with plenty of different species of Loricariidae. However yes, like a few species this is one that is a little less pleasant to it's own species, but doesn't mean it can't be done either.

The question should be though, "should it be done?". IMHO, Adding a fish to a tank which has fish already it in it which you know there is a fair chance of them causing the newcomer a great deal of grief sooner or later, is not a really a fair thing to put the fish through considering the risk factor of such a thing happening.

well they are no more territorial towards other species than many other Loricariidae. If you were working with that frame of mind you wouldn't be keeping plecos together at all.
