witch plecos have the most intricate designs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Is it ok if they start off young together? I certainly wouldn't put any other Pleco in with my 15" Common! He is definitely boss of the tank. :)

Really depends on the mood of the individual fish.
Where you get a problem is when you introduce 2 similarly sized large plecos. Then there is likely to be a fight. But often you can put smaller specimens in and the big one will just ignore them as being too insignificant to bother chasing. Then as they get used to each others company they will work out their own pecking order, maybe with an occasional biff in the side to remind the smaller ones who is boss.
Likewise if they grow up together they will usually get along with minimal fighting and work out their own pecking order over time.
I'm sure someone will have exceptions, but thats just my observations.

I agree once a pecking order has been established (btw you may suffer a loss or two while this is happening) you can keep various species of Loricariidae together. Ensure they have plenty of hiding spots and feeding stations. The feeding stations are best set up in the same area of the tank everyday so conditioning and patterns of behavior evolve.

Good luck , keep us updated:popcorn:

with enough caves and bottom space, multiple plecos can get along just fine. i currently have 4 male bristlenose, 3 clowns (panaque maccus), a gibby, a royal, and a rubberlip together in a 150. the tank is full of driftwood, so they are happy.

unfortunately, i almost never get to see them. . . :(

They aren't rare or exotic, but I like the 'Common' Gibby and Goldspots.
Easy to look after, and look pretty impressive once they get bigger :D

These are my little fellas.

Ian those are fantastic looking gibbies, anyone would be proud to have such finely conditioned plecos as those in their collection.:headbang2

my favorite are still the gold nugget with pronouned gold+green, and the zebra

I love all the different plecos.. even my big guy shows a great pattern..and my Adonis has lost many of his white spots but still has a shiny black that is awesome and my Royal is only going to get prettier with age.. But if i ever see one like Davo's it will be owned..he is gorgeous!:D

I think that adodontis plecos have some good markings and so do royals. And especially the L066.
Thank you!!
