No, it was not wrong for your boyfriend to pull his gun out!! It may be in your best interest to know how to use his gun also. Here is a situation that happened at my Mother-in-Law's house about 8 years ago. Mother-in-Law starts bringing in groceries, my husband and I go to help, after the third round of bringing in the stuff, the dogs started acting insane, barking and try to chew on the door. I went to door to see what is happening and there is a man I don't know. The dogs are holding him at the door and won't let him pass. Before I said anything, Mother-in-law calls the dogs off. This man is bringing in groceries to the table. I thought it was someone coming to work for her, since she called the dogs off. I head off to another part of the house, about fifteen to 20 minutes go by and my husband and Mother-in-Law come to me and ask, if I know the guy standing in the kitchen. I said, I thought he was someone your Mother knew, since she called the dogs off. My Rat Terrier, kept and eye on the guy the entire time, even though he was called off, the chinese shar-pei is running around with a toy in his mouth. No one knows who this guy is. No one wants to confront the guy, husband wants to call the police. I said, your mother can call while we find out where he is in the house. Husband says no, let the police handle it. I said while we are waiting, the guy could have done a head count and told someone on phone, etc..or he might have plans for something else. I said, who just walks into someone's house with dogs and three people without saying a word? I said he must be really bold or crazy or a combination of the two. I said, the more time we give him, the more danger we are in. I called my rat terrier, "Jack," and gave him the command to watch me and keep the man in his sight. I didn't know if the shar-pei would follow what was about to happen because it's not my dog. I figured the worst the shar-pei would do, is give the man his toy. I left everyone in the room and said Jack, go get him!!!! Jack charged and held the man, shar-pei, looked at Jack and I told the shar-pei drop that toy!. He did, he understood something was not right and he charged the man too. My husband is coming to me, I told the guy, if you don't start talking I will let these dogs attack right now!!!! I said, if you can get pass these dogs there will be 2 guns in your face before you can make it to the door or to me!! Husband starts raising his voice to the guy, and the guy just smiled. My husband said I won't hesitate to shoot you, the police are on the way! The guy just smiles again. I was just about to give the bite command to Jack, when something told me, something is wrong with his guy, like he has mental impairment. I looked again, my instincts told me exactly that again. The guy kept smiling, I told my husband what I thought very quietly, while the dogs are still holding the guy. We eventually found out the guy was mentally impaired, he lived in a care home, the bus dropped him off at the wrong house. The guy looked about 25-30 years old but had the mind of a 6 to 7 years old, he was harmless. He didn't know his address or his phone number. We talked with the police and they said the only thng they would do, is let him stay at the station until someone called looking for him. We asked if no one came, what would happen? They said he would have be placed in jail until he could be transfered some where else, usually took 2-3 days. We said no, we would keep talking with him and buy him lunch. The officer said, that guy is very lucky because no one would take that much time and buy him food too. He said people like him usually go missing or get killed. The guy's name was "Jacque." What ever you asked or said to him he would say yes and smile. It was very interesting trying to find out where he lived or what is a phone number for someone. We spent 4 hours before we got the answers. I told my husband give Jacque the phone and let see if we get him to call someone, it took a while but he statred dialing, it was his Mother. We also found out that she 2 hours away, yes we took him. She was so happy that we were the ones who found him. She said that was always my biggest fear that he would get lost and get hurt. Jacque an his Mother were re-united, she was very happy and he acted like everything was okay and wanted to play a game. Also, one of our neighbors was keeping mentally impaired people in her home. She kept them for an after-school program until the bus would pick them up very late in night. The neighbors' house was 6 houses up. If my instincts hadn't told me to look at Jacque, he would have been attacked by dogs, possibly shot or killed. We had also found out that Jacque hadn't always been impaired. He was in a car accident and it caused his problems. Jacque died a few years ago from complications from that accident. God does work in very mysterious ways.
