i dont know alot about this cichlid, i have a buddy that knows alot about it, but we're wondering if anyones of anyone that has 1 and how rare are they?? i'm thinking about trying to find 1 or 2 and putting them in a 150 ga. tank together with nothing else in it except for them. the more info the better. thanks

do they get big? my buddy said they are the largest cichlid, which gets up to 6ft. and will eat anything that gets in its way and if it cant eat it whole they'll tear it to pieces until its eatable??
The worlds biggest cichlid is the emperor and only gets 40"

and do enjoy live food though you shouldn't feed live all the time

Biggest cichlid is cichla temensis. Go look at the IGFA world record and the length. I'm pretty sure it's around 38-40". But, yeah. You are thinking of a dovii and should not house more than one together unless a male/female spawning pair with a divider.
