Wolf fish cohabitation?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wolf and flowerhorns may not be a great option either.

If you can go to Walmart and get a plastic bin. That'll hold some of ur tank water till things hold over.

The other option is to go Home Depot/lowes and get a cheap acrylic sheet cut to size and wedge in ur tank as a divider.

Clean water and salt will help.

So maybe the light color is stress from a aggressive predator or room mate.

Well it's not that serious and they can cause that from a nip, so I'd say wait for it to happen again the. Separate, doing so will only worse. Thugs though cause then you'll have only 2 wolves. It was probably the curu, should get some active swimming dithers like Tim foil barbs. That'll distract them ime.

Keeping up with this topic: anyone ever read about having 2 (or more) curupiras in the same tank?

From what I gathered, they are even harder to keep together compared to Aimaras.

I entertained the idea of adding a Curupira into the current mix whenever I see a nice specimen up for sale. :)

It'll heal up for sure. I'm not sure the curu will leave well enough alone.

Curus seem to do better by themselves. When bigger fish are around they get tame.

Hey Red, in my experience I haven't been able to keep any other wolf with my Curu, including 2 Aimara that were larger than him. He relentlessly went after both for about a month and then I just removed him. He doesn't seem to go after anything else no matter what the size. Out of all the wolves I've kept, (Lac included) my Curu was the nastiest to any other wolf. I want to believe that if you get 2 small specimen that they can possibly grow together with no problem.

I kept 2 Aimara together with no problem and I believe JL has multiple Aimara that are together.

My Curupira is pretty ok with the Aimara, Mala and Brasi. Fingers crossed. LOL!

Just not too sure how he will react with another Curupira in the mix. My tank space is pretty maxed out at the moment - would be troublesome if a big fight breaks out. :(

Would like to suggest also getting a driftwood or some slate rocks decor to increase the footprint / territory.

My wolves "park" themselves at multiple layers on the driftwood most of the time during rest. I'd think they feel safer than being exposed with mostly aggressive tank mates all the time.

Add: ground dwelling dithers like birchirs may also help. :)
Most report bichirs being completeky ignored by wolves.ninsaid something active like tinfoil barbs because that'll annoy the wolf and draw his attention.

I would advise against this, it's been tried, never lasted more than a few months, the smaller one usually ends up killed, it starts with flaring gills and bumping, and overnight you'll come to a dead one. Wes has also said these are the only ones that ever gave him any problem keeping together when waiting to be sold etc, and he has brought in a lot of wolves for these to be the only ones he has an issue with, he says even aimara is calm together but curus just wanna kill eachother.
