wolf fish

Not a good idea to mix things with piranhas. The only things that should be kept long term are small dither type fishes or maybe a pleco. I have seen other fish mixed and it might be okay for a time but invariably it ended badly. . .

define success, and for how long were they together?

the last time i mixed them i put a 3" rbp in a 37 gal with two 4-5" Ery. Sp. with occasional fin nipping, but nothing serious. it lasted for about 6 months then i moved the p because it got too big

in the past i've kept rbp's with a mal.

it makes the p's a hell of a lot more interesting and less shy when you put other aggressive fish in with them. they have to compete for food and territory

i doubt it will work every time but if you get the size ratio correct and keep them fed you should be able to keep them together. also make sure you don't over crowd or the piranhas will take care of it them selves

I have a 13 inch and 7 in wolfs in with baracudas...MBU puffer, and 5 dovii (5-9 inches). I put in 100 large feeders 2x/month. The Baracuda eats about 90 of them in 3 days but the Wolfs seem to love cichlid sticks as they come to the top and leap at them as opposed to a more gentle grab from the Dovii's.
