YES definitely keep a strong lid on I didnt have a cover for about two weeks and I literally watched mine jump out about 4 times in those two weeks. mind you I had 3 together. I remember waking up at 3 am by accident and heard a thump and saw my large wolf crawling across the floor. I lost my little one when I put him in a 30 gal nurse tank and ran to a friends house because I forgot the lid and came back he must have just out right when i walked out the door.
OK my experience with wolfs (malas) is they are very cool to look at and great fish to own. they are hardy fish, ppl say a 30 gal for a wolf is good because they are very inactive. but thats because they are nocturnal and actually move alot at night so personally I think a 75 minimum for one. I had 3 medium sized wolfs in a 75 for about 2 months and had extreme agression so I had to upgrade to a 125 thinking they would have more room and less aggression. It did lesson the aggresson a bit but not enough. I had to seperate them because they are very powerful and cause alot of damage with one bite. so for there own safety i split them.
Some thing you should know is that they are very inactive and can be disappointing to some. not me but friends came over and would always be like bro your fish never moves. ofcourse some are different then others and are more active but thats rare. feeding time is very cool. they attack the food with such force and speed that always changed my friends mind about them. but research there diet on here just use the search button. never live food . mine loved tilapia fillets and shrip fillets. there are alot of pics on here . same thing just use the search button . theres actually not to many pics on google. and alot of drift wood they seem to love hiding in the cuts. good luck.
and by the way , Channa really knows his S**T. lol
