Ya think?
They gave an 87 year old a 30 year loan...

You guys are way to quick to judge...given you don't know what else was going on in this person's life. It can happen to anyone, what if this was your family member or friend? Someone's relative on MFK...what would you say then?
cry me a river

I personally think that you are not considering anything else in this person's life. I know that I am not going to change you, but I think that you should at least consider the fact that somebody died here.

And didn't anybody notice that this thread has a big grin smiley face by the title? I think that that's bad enough.

sorry if my smiley wasnt up to your acceptance, but nobody died. shes survived. thats why fannie mae is forgiving the loan on her house and returning the house to her. and honestly, i dont see whats so wrong about voicing my opinion. why do i have to do some critical thinking and think of all the "what if's"? why cant i just read an article, make a quick conclusion, and if it makes me LOL, why cant i say that it made me LOL?

people are too overly critical these days

Anyone that signs a mortgage they can't afford gets no sympathy from me. The government is about to pay 700 BILLION to deal with this idiocy. That costs every man, woman, and child in this country $2500. I also have no sympathy for the banks that are going out of business. If you make your bed with crusty sheets, lie in it.

you pretty much hit the nail on the friggin head. a few posts back a lot of people were whining about how in the heck the bank could give an old woman a 30 year loan. is the world so sissified that nobody bothered to think why the damn woman signed a 30 year loan knowning she was 87 years old?

as i said earlier, common sense is a rare trait these days

Isn't that where the bank's responsibility comes in? Its deep pockets of high ups in these institutions that allowed this to happen.

edit: But whatever, its still the responsibility of those taking the loans.

not really man. we cant keep blaming the banks in this. the ones to blame are the people that signed the loan docs. they knew damn well they couldnt afford the mortgages they were getting into yet they did it anyways
