Wooded tank

I'd go with carbon.

You don't seem to want to try anything that's being suggested, but of the things that have been, carbon makes the most sense. Something has to change if you want to fix the problem, may as well start by adding carbon.

One thing i should have asked as well was, did you ever treat the wood at all before placing it in your tank? if you didn't then that would also explain why you still have tannins leeching from your wood...

But as suggested, add the appropriate amount of carbon to your filter, and replace it when needed and it will almost definitely get rid of the tannins in your tank , although once the carbon is exhausted, and the wood hasn't finished leeching then you will see tannins again...

Where did I say I didn't want to try any of the suggestions? I was stating what I've done in the past and answering other people's questions...

I've never even heard of that before. I'm just heading to bed now so ill have to read up on it tomorrow.

Didn't mean to sound like I was ignoring your suggestions. I was busy this afternoon so I was kind of replying quick.
My apologies lol. Thank you for the suggestions though. I will try cleaning out the filter again, and replacing the bio balls. I will also check out the stuff the above guys mentioned. If I can get it in Edmonton ill definitely give it a shot. If not ill try the carbon

As in did you boil the wood at all before placing it into the tank? since a lot of people, myself included will normally try and use hot water to soak the wood in for a certain period of time to make the wood leech as much of its tannins as possible before placing it into the tank...

Boil. Bake. Boil. Bake.

Activated carbon works by adsorption or binding the tannins onto itself. Also what kind or wood are those in the first place? Are they hardwood?
