Yesterday I went to the creek by my house and guess what I caught? Yup I caught a Red Ear Slider turtle. Pics will be up later tonight.

He is feeding on feeders right now. I am hoping to catch more maybe today or tomorrow.

I hope you know what your getting youself into. I know you have a lot of posts, which means that you migh know a thing or two, but some of us have lots of posts and know absolutly nothing.

Since you say your feeding it "feeders" I must say I am not impresed. DO NOT feed it Gold Fish, minnows are fine along with anything else it would find in the wild.

Tell us, how are you keeping it.

Man does this drab start to get old. Why not just a "Awsome, hey maybe instead of goldfish try minnows because from what ive read they are better for the turtle".

Why do you always insist on throwng in a condesending remark? Because really, im sure not to many people are "impressed" with them.

Wow imagine that, Z Trip is gonna get on someone's case because they don't post in the reptile forum a lot.......Pat knows about turtles, he breeds box turtles so no need to jump down his throat.......

Waiting for pics Pat..............

Thanks Doug I will get pics up ASAP.

Haha, dude im buying a red earslider next week. Or possibly a yellow or painted.

Good luck!

The only natvie freshwater turtles in my state are snapping turtle (introduced), western pond turtle, and the painted.

So theres no way I could collect a red/yellow myself.

I will give you a bit of advise, since I caught some painted turtles last summer, on how to get these guys eating pellets. I started with feeding mine grasshoppes and crickets that I caught out in my yard. I would only see them eat when I would turn off all of the lights, except for the one on the tank, and stay a few feet from the tank. Eventually I started throwing pellets in with the grasshoppers/crickets. Now they've warmed up to me and will take the pellets right from my hand!

Good luck with your redear!:)

Here's pics of Pat's RES......he couldn't upload them so i did.........
