Barbara, I agree with you 100%. By willingness to work I ment the abilty to be tought to performe the original function of the breed. To pass a level 1 working test, they don't necessarly have to be proficent at the task like a dog that does it every day but must maintane the mental and phsyical attrabutes needed to be a working dog befor being elegable for the show ring. Perhaps I chould have expanded on my thought. Yes AKC acceptance has beed the kiss of death for many once great breeds.

Beautiful dog Miguel. He is form your dogs? I read they mature slowly and take about 3-4 years to be fully devloped is that your experinace with them? What the height and weight of that dog?

Yep. From my house.

All molossoids only are adult once they reach 3 years old.

This guy may not get much bigger, but he will start thickening.

At 3 his head will be a brick.

yes I caught your intent. the problem is that AKC -only breeders DON'T get it at all.
It's horrible to me, watching (Border collie) Agility dogs. they're gonna end up acting just a notch above greyhounds...open the gate & watch their butts disappear.

I think it really depends on the breed. Some breeds should absolutely not be messed with, IMO. However, for example, GOOD show line Labrador retrievers are wonderful dogs. I know plenty that are therapy dogs.

Beauty Miguel!
In fact, not only "real" molossers take so long. The bouvier is said to be to a small part molosser and they take 2 years to physically and 2-3 to mentally grow up. On that note, the line mine came from has been a show line quite some years but she and her relatives still show typical attributes of a working bouvier.

Do you have a pic of a fully grown adult male? What does that pup in the pic weigh?

Pup must be near 80/90 pounds...

i love dogs bred to be what they are suppose to be.. you showed the poodle in a pic.. well at least that is a standard poodle being a poodle..i don't like what they are doing now.. here in USA anyway.. mixing two breeds and calling them the two breeds name.. lab a doodle. for A LAB AND POODLE.. Just wrong......... we look for specific traits in the puppy from a specific breed and expect that most of those traits will be there.,.. it took generations and knowledge to gain this breed,.. why are they destroying it on purpose..... the paper is filled with mixed dogs.. i do not mean mutts.. i love mutts... but breeders breeding two breeds completely opposite of each other.... wrong.
Some shows are all BS, but the shows are meant to promote a breed... to show us what they look like, act like etc..shows are advertising the breed and keeping the breed strong.. it is within the shows that there is corruption and fraud.. like everything else money is the key because of greed and unfair judging.. the show has a different aspect..
