This thread will be dedicated to the progress that will be made by me in the next couple of months....

My family genes are not the best, and if i font diet or exercise I gain weight very easily, i also lose it very easily by doing that.

I'm currently 6'1 279 lbs and look like this
163165_1570738862302_1050408484_31276154_1330961_n.jpg

Most of the reason why i weigh so much but dont look it is because i have alot of muscle mass and fluids stored up. The muscle mass i have been gaining over the years playing Varsity level Offensive guard, and defensive tackle. And after high school i have gone to the gym but have lost some tone, the volume is still there though. The fluids will be decreased greatly in the first month of training and weight will drop fast.

My goals as far as weight loss are as follow:
By 5/14/2011 i want to be down to 260-265 lbs.
By 6/14/2011 i want to be down to around 250.
And hopefully before thanksgiving/christmas be down to around 220 which is my ideal weight with the build that i have.

After i get to 220, i will maintain it till after christmas and then might burn body fat to get to 210. I might try bulking up after to reach 230. I really want to play Football at UM as a linebacker.

I have been on many diet plans before, even a personal trainer a couple of months ago. I have even lost upto 30 pounds in a month, but the problem with doing this is that you gain it back just as quick when you stop doing this...

So rather than battling back and forth with my weight for my whole lifetime, i will try to create a new lifestyle for myself.

Luckily for me my mother and father are both MD's and can help me out a bit. I will get vitamin D shots every 2 weeks- a month and be taking some pills to help me out along the way.

Hopefully this thread will not only benefit me, but many of you as well. Sometimes we need a little bit of motivation to get ourselves kickstarted into doing exercise!

I have started going to a park closeby either with my mom or my gf for the past week to do some jogging and started eating less. But the real diet and exercise program will begin on 4/18/2011.

I will go by my dads office probably on friday to get all my measurements as well as step on the scale which shows you your body mass in fluids, muscle, as well as in fat.

I will also have to hit the gym one of these days with a friend to see what my MAX on each machine is before i start.

Well subscribe to this thread if you like this kind of thing. I will be posting daily what i eat and what my workout was.

Weather permitting, i will work out tomorrow and get my MAX readings of push ups, dips, sit ups/crunches, and running endurance time. Anything that i can do with my own body weight at the park :D

Hope you succeed! Losing weight is not the easiest thing to do, but with time and effort you will lose the weight. You should try circuit training.

Power to you! I'm 5'9" and weighed 210 a few years ago. That scared me and I'm now down to an average of between 180 and 190. Still trying to lose the next 20 pounds, but it's a journey. Best wishes on your new lifestyle.

There are a couple of things in there that you might want to consider...

Why would you get vitamin D shots? If you stand in the sun for 15 mins a day, you'll get more than you need. Your body produces it. And why would you do it for weight loss?

Honestly, 90% of weight loss and weight gain happens in the kitchen. It's not about shots and pills. It's about changing your eating habits and diet to accommodate your nutritional requirements.

Drink water, lower salt, minimize carbs (drop the bread, rice, battered things, sugar, etc), and eat veggies. For breakfast, have a banana and a bottle of water. Mid morning, eat an apple and a bottle of water, for lunch, have a nice veggie dish (Amy's makes some good mexican food that is all veggies), for a mid afternoon snack, orange and a bottle of water. For dinner, take a run before you eat. You'll eat less and be less hungry. Eat a salad or a chicken breast meal, but cut out the BS wasteful calories.

So genetics do play a part, but that's not what makes you gain or lose weight. If you want to be 210, you have to do more than workout, but shots and pills aren't the answer. Getting smart (and honest) about your caloric intake is the only way to go.

Drinking water is the best way to fill your belly and reduce the number of calories you take in.

Have you looked into the blood type diet? It gives you an idea of where you might look in your diet to accommodate your personal nutritional requirements or advice. For me, I should focus a good bit on veggies and a lot less meat.

Thanks for reading the thread, you seem to know what youre talking about. I do understand where youre coming from but even if my calorie intake is minimal i just do not lose weight without exercise. I do know pills are not the answer but they will help me out along the way. The pills i am talking about are natural and i will be reducing the dose as my stomach gets smaller. I have tried many diets before but never heard of the blood type, i usually aim for Atkins but thats not very healthy.

This week all i have done is cut back on the food i know i cant have : sweets, bread, and foods high in saturated fat.

Next week the real diet starts... Im making plans for it but will need to pass by my dads office to hear what he thinks of it.

I do like the diet you suggested except eating a banana, although its high in potassium, tropical fruits are some of the highest in carbs. I have always preferred acidic fruits anyways.

The diet i have planned for next week is:

Breakfast: Plain Yogurt with slices of apple
2-3 hours later: Apple/ acidic fruit
Lunch: Palm sized piece of protein with salad/veggies
2-3 hours later: Apple/acidic fruit or nutri grain bar
Dinner(No later than 7 pm) : same as lunch, but half portion

Of course drinking ALOT of water is a major role here. I cut back on soda last week and have only been drinking water for these past 4 days or so. Im guessing i drink about 2-3 gallons a day now.

If i get hungry after dinner(which i know i will) i will drink water and eat a 0 sugar, 5 calorie jello snack.

I need to start adjusting my sleeping habits though. I will no longer be able to go to sleep at 2 am, because i will get too hungry. The first days are the worst!

Well anyways thank you all for looking at my thread and for your support. Ill be hitting the park in a couple hours!

A pound of muscle at rest burns 50 calories if you want to add mass do it at the beginning as opposed to the end it will help you lean out. If you're gonna do cardio, do it first thing in the morning before eating. This is when your blood sugar is at its lowest and do to this tour body will have to burn day to get the energy it needs. I've seen studies showing you'll actually burn twice as much fat this way. If this isn't feasible, do cardio prior to lifting. Lifting will be enough to keep your heart rate elevated and maximize fat loss. Be careful with apples and fruit in general, a lot of them have as much sugar as candy bars.
