World Record Hammerhead: 1262 pounds!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That shark was probably 50 years old. :( Recently another record was beat, the world record lemon shark caught on a fly rod....only this one was set free rather then killed. That's the way it should be, killing that hammerhead should have been illegal.

Lemon shark article.

dont worry, there is tons of hammerheads swimming around. that would be a tough fish to weigh on your boga grip scale.

When was the last time you counted them?

No matter how many there are anyway, the killing of this shark was a waste. This shark was an amazing individual and did not deserve to die at the hands of these morons.

Wow, Talk about me using this information to get my girl-friend off of this "Key West, Beach Florida Get-away"! I'll be able to use the free money to get more tanks/monsters!!:naughty:

do you really think that lemon shark is staying still on command. two things wrong with that photo , one ,the guy is leaning on the shark and the shark is not moving, two that shark should be let go in deeper water , it should realize its near water and head for it like crazy. the guy is too close to the toothy part if its still alive... CHOMP

its that attitiude that drives species toward extinction

I hate to say it, But your Right!! I live near the ocean and such media "Hip" over a shark like this, during a slow news day, doesn't help the image of protecting these animals. :iagree: :iagree:

I agree, it is a waste to kill such an animal. If your going to catch something and kill it , you EAT IT!!!:swear:
They shouldn't have killed it just for the recognition or in this case a record.

Who ever thinks there are a ton of hammerheads or sharks in general and it is ok to kill them for no reason, IS an IDIOT.
The previous record was set May 30, 1982
If that were true, why did it take sooooooo long for someone to brake the record?
