world's largest freshwater fish is the gigas..

large is mostly reserved for length. And mekong are the heaviest not the longest. Look into arapima giga (spelling?) they have been recorded at 15 feet in length and are the longest fresh water fish.

But they have been over fished and now a 8-10 footer is the biggest that has been caught for over a decade.

yea that an the great white to but im goin off wat national geographic says.

It all depends on your definition.... The Mekong will weight more but the Arapaima is way longer

technically, its a species of sturgeon.

a 11-13 footer was caught about 3 months ago on trev gowdys monster fish. IMO, pimas aint the biggest. its sturgeons.
