worlds largest freshwater fish

Zoodiver claimed this, but he was not even able to show a photo of one more than 2,5m long... This was just a massive exageration (or, to say nothing bad about zoodiver, an overestimation, big fish look often bigge than they actually are).
And keep in mind that a hypothetical 14 arapaima would be the size of a big great white shark and weigh around one ton. The very largest confirmed fish from the wild and south asian fishing ponds were "only" in the 2,5-3m region.
By the way, I feel very happy to have seen already several very large megafishes. I have seen for several times wels in zoo aquariums, the largest ones were probably around 1,5 m. I have also seen several Pangasianodon sanitwongsei in the Berlin Zoo aquarium from which the largest one was also around 1,5m. But the really greatest ones were the two 2m + arapaimas I saw also at Berlin Zoo. This fish are really amazingly impressive, and really wonderful. Giant pangasianodons and wels are also cool, but the wonderful big and colourfull scales of the arapaimas makes them looks like dragons.
