rediculous, no BARBARIC!

sad that so many of our precious animals will be lost forever with the way we abandon all thoughts on how the long term effect will be.. everything always being money..

According to one of the local state parks here in Nebraska(Schram), our state has the only known relative to the Chinese paddlefish, simply called paddlefish. I read it on one of the signs at the little aquarium they have there.

I haven't been there in awhile, do they still have that 100 lb catfish in the aquarium?

Yes, your native American paddlefish is the other relative. And by the sounds of it, may end up having no family...

Hope he finds a couple, i dont like the chances but you gotta try.

Such an awesome fish

that sucks

but i have a bit of a hypothosis as to why the larger fish are becomming extinct, and they are all prehistoric, evolutionary inferioir to the modern day boneyfish

the thing is, the age of the dinosaurs is over, the gaints that once dominated our world are fading out, in a sort of effort on the part of evolution to adress overcrowding, the planet is only so big

yea it is humans contribution to their extiction but we are no longer simply another animal with which the beasts of old share the world with, no. we are now more of a force of nature than an animal, we are so far the pinnacle of evolution, and due to that, other species are being pushed out to make room

maybe?

or maybe im just a jerk who is totally off base

but trust me, i hate to see the ]v[onsters of the world fade away, they are a major reason this world is interesting to me. but i think just maybe, even if we compleely stopped fishing for or never started to, never altered the river, never tampered with the habitiat that these fish would still be on their way to extinction. just maybe. just a hunch.

We are far from animals anymore, we are more like an enlarged virus or parasite. We have no care for our own let alone something we look at as an "animal". And truely we have betrayed nature that gave up the gift to Evo. to waht we are.By distroying what we have been given to protect. Mankind should be the Protectors of this world instead we are distroying it and compaired to the great many wonders of life here we are short lived, and over productive. All the Technology and still we are stupid and incapable of surpassing a man made craving of greed....
If there was a 100G to be paid to the person who finished off the paddlefish or any other....They be gone by Monday...Because man thinks a peice of paper that Joe Fuc*ing Smoe said was worth something, is worth something and is worth more then an intire Speices...

It makes me mad to watch things like this happen due to the simple fact that mankind dont care(in general) and has the in-ablity to SHARE!!!!!

I do agree with the ONE point of Age of Diono's is over, But we are not to far behind. Because we have computers and phones?will that save us from the mistakes of NOT CARING?

Nature distroyed the age before Diono's, the Age of Diono's and probley US for that matter.
Its a shame one day there will be no nature and no wild-Itll be only zoos and aquariums....

We do the same thing with our rivers by daming them especially here in Idaho, though it's sad we're losing these big sturgeons and the paddlefish.

no, the ones in Nebraska are the American paddle fish, which are in a complete different family and genus of fish. Here are some more pictures of trhe chinese paddle fish, which has a body of a sturgeon with scutes, and nose like a stretched out sturgeonxpaddle fish.
