Worried Or Just Wait?

Mouth looks like your fish. Damn, duck lips. Going to try to get him better but I don't think his chances are good considering most of the fish withduck lips died. Wish me luck.

A side profile shot would help determine ducks lips (or not). it progresses very quickly, and if you try to manually try to close the jaw, it doesn't move.
At first I thought my beani had a simple jaw dislocation, that can sometimes be snapped back in place, it would not.
Lowering the temp stops the bacteria from multiplying exponentially, and gives the fishes immune system a fighting chance to work, at 82'F or above the bacteria easily overwhelm.
here are some shots over a few days
at first a small separation appears around the lip

the gap gets larger, and so on, as the bacteria continually destroy inner tissue

I find it is always better to let your fish starve while on vacation, the only time I've had death is when I let someone else feed. Amateurs always feed to much, and have no clue about the seriousness of degrading water quality.

He did eat 2 mealworms today and I saw him open and close his mouth a couple of times. And he tried to bite me. Crossing my fingers.

I think my flowerhorn is getting better from ducklips. He's been in quarantine for 4 days in 75 degree water. I'm using salt, metro and maracyn 2. Since yesterday I given him 2 gut-loaded mealworms and he ate them right away and was opening and closing his mouth a little bit. Today, I saw him attack the heater and also I gave him 3 mealworms and he ate them right away also. My questions are: 1. Should I be fasting him until he gets better? 2. Should I be feeding him a little bit everyday like now, 3. Should I be feeding him until he's full? I hope I don't jinx myself by saying he's getting better.

I would fast him a couple days between feedings, fish can go quite a while between meals. So I wouldn't worry about him starving. Keep up with the treatment I'm glad to hear hes doing better. Please keep us posted.

I'll fast him for 2 days and try to give him very little on the third day (2-3 mealworms) I've tried giving him a few pellets but he doesn't eat them so I hope the mealworms were okay to give him. It's kind of hard trying not to feed because he has a disease that's pretty deadly and him eating is uplifting. I'll just wait it out. He's still attacking the heater because I hear the heater banging against the tank when he's attacking it. Should I worry about him attacking the heater or is that a good sign?

I think if he's active he feeling better, I would take that as a good sign. The mealworms wouln't hurt him, once he's back to normal in a few weeks he should be eating everything again. Keep up the good fight.

Thanks for the support from everyone. I hope to post pictures of my cured flowerhorn.
