hello! in the last few months i went on a fish binge and spent lots of money on aquariums and everything related. before i was just a betta ( love deep red bettas ! ) and moor goldfish type.i was moving really fast and just obsessed with beautiful fish, so of course i ended up with some poorly planned disasters! one good thing has happened because of this: while trying to move my half full 55 gallon by myself because my hubby refused to participate and my wet, messy ,crazed fishy mayhem- i noticed a large hard lump in my breast. it turned out to be cancer. but at least i caught it,because i had no symptoms of illness - just a left arm/shoulder that seemed to throb and ache sometimes.which is why i guess, they call it a silent killer.
my question today is if you feel my beloved 55 gallon is stocked appropriately to add one or two black ghost knife? and will my puffers eventually have to be moved once they are grown? right now i am reading conflicting reports,so i am not sure.

number one: 55 gallon tall freshwater tank. 1 fluorescent plant light, two 40+ gallon hang on back power filters, bubble wand, heater.
plants : amazon sword, lucky bamboo and assorted fake and unidentifed plants.
stock: 4 ctenopoma acutirostre, 4-marbled and one black veiltail angelfish ( pterophyllum scalare ) 4 kubotai botia- loaches, 2 hillstream loaches (beaufortia kweichowensis) 2 baby green spotted pufferfish (tetraodon nigroviridis ) 3 blackskirt tetras and 2 gold gourami.

and also, with my disaster tank, any suggestions for a unique and wonderful easy care set up that will make up for the miserable failure there?
number two tank: seventy five gallon second hand 'disappointment' freshwater tank. 2 mega power filters. it DID have 2baby albino oscars, 4jewel cichlids, 2crayfish,2common plecos.whats left? one sad and raggedy baby oscar, one pleco, and a really mean alpha marbled angelfish ( he may have to be re- homed, he's so annoying ) i threw in some giant danios and crimson-spotted rainbows to have something else in the tank.big apple snail.

thanks and i appreciate all comments and ideas

They get to be close to 2 foot in length I believe.

A Black Ghost Knife grows quit slow so a 55g would do it fine for a long while. They'll average 16" to 18" But can reach an average of 20" My advice is to keep just one per tank. Black Ghost Knives are highly territorial with other Knives. They get along with any other fish that they can't eat. The Puffers may be aggressive towards all the fish in the tank in my opinion. They would be the ones to worry about.

gsp are fine in fresh when they are young.. but to keep them happy they need to go brackish.. they are also (for lack of a better term) "jerks" and need their own space.. suggested minimum is like 30 gallons per gsp or something like that.. if they feel at all crowed they will do their best to destroy any and all tankmates..

you are going to need more tanks

yes, i have been worried about the puffers ...some say they are okay in a community, others say not.but right now they aren't even two inches. soooo...if i put the puffers in the seventy five gallon ,what else would go great with them?

i agree, a BGK would do fine in a 55g for quite a long time.
i just wanted to say i am very sorry about your illness and that you are very brave to continue with the fish keeping hobby. you are a truly dedicated monster fish keeper :)

thanx for the kind words & encouragement...it makes me want to take on arowanas or something! i will go ahead and try a ghost knife with the others, hopefully he thrives and gets huge, then i will have a reason to get a monster tank.
i think i am going to try pink kissing gourami in the 75...they are easy to find, get huge and are hardy.
