Would this be good lighting for a 10 gallon?

The problem with recomending particular bulbs is that it all depends on personal preference and what you want to keep, where you are planning on just keeping fish it is all aesthetics. What I have done in the past is check out different tanks, find pics like some that are on this board and PM the person with the most appealing look and ask them what combo they use.

Typically if you like a whiter look go for somehting around 10,000-15,000K if you like a bluer light go higher like 18,000K.

As far as the different bulbs at same temp, they tweak the bulb to have similar human eye visual appearance but have different spectrum out put i.e.; normall a 18,000K bulb is mostly blue spectrum but some of the bulbs with 18,000K will have spikes in red (good for plants).

that's why i said i was partial to 10,00K and actinic..

it doesn't matter seeing as he doesn't have corals... he can look into my suggestion and like/dislike it and move from there

I actually might do some corals down the line, so I don't know. I had someone else I know recommened the 10k and actinic so thats what I'll probably do. Thanks. I think I'll probably do Marine-Glow (Actinic) and Power-Glow (18k).

I'm using natural sunlight from 4pm-6pm on weekdays and 12 hours on Saturday and 6 hours on sunday...the other times the back of the tank and one side is covered with black plastic card. The other side is the 20gal...

At night, I take the fluorescent DESKTOP LAMP that I use for my terrarium and use it for my SW...

Flame me.

Yeah, I think I'm going to order the one I just linked too. I've had the chance to see the T5 Glo at PetSmart and its alright, but meh. Plus this one has three seperate power cords so I can do all the fun timer stuff. My aquarium is only 20' long instead of 24' but I don't think that will be a big problem.

Yeah i'd go for the one with the led's. Almost the same price as the one without Check ebay also. Good deals on stuff there sometimes. Might have to buys new bulbs on used fixtures though.
