wasn't referring to anyone specifically JP. There are 2 types of sellers/breeders IMO JP. Ones that sell for a reasonable price because it's a hobby and they try to be fair with everyone, or to take care of fellow members, or to plain just be nice. Then there are others that are driven by makeing as much as possable from each batch. You are correct, people can sell them for whatever they want. Hieu is a cool brotha, and I was just giving him my opinion bro

I agree with you 100%, even with the best parents there will only be a few masterpieces in a brood, pimping out pictures of the parents will only fool the new people in the hobby.

You see that a lot though, and people really fall for it.

If you want to buy nice fish, you have to wait a little while to see how they are going to mature, do not buy fry.

I disagree. Most of the time, breeders do not show the parents, because they don't look as quality as the juvies that they are selling and don't want the buyers to shy away from seeing the quality of parents or see the "limit" of a trait that buyer is looking for in specific(such as KOK) Another reason could be that they don't want to share to to make a such a breed that's hot(like KK, TK, Thai silk, and etc...)

Not many people share the pics of parents, and they do because they are confident of their parents when it comes to quality. You are right on one thing, MP parents do not produce all MP frys. Only a few from a batch come close if not surpass the quality of parents. However, good quality parents will produce MUCH more quality frys in percentage vs low to mid quality parents producing anything nice. If a seller shows pics of parents and they are something you are looking for, I'd risk my chances by getting their frys and grow them out and hope they will turn out similar as their parents in quality. Especially when I am in a budget with high taste and you can get several of them for less than $100.

Look at some of the buy sell threads here, they show the parents and everybody thinks...........quality parents, quality fry. It is just not true, quality parents will produce some quality fry, but it is not a sure bet by any stretch of the imagination.

Be sure up those threads, they are here.

The parents that killergx001 posted in this thread looks good enough to me to be called "quality parents". But I do agree with you that MFK sales section have lots of lowgrade FHs for sale with quality FH price tags:(

Let me ask you a question.......if I breed a red dragon with a JK, am I going for a fish with a nice flowerline or a fader with a big head?

I had one discussion on here, that was later edited, it really left me speechless.

ILC displays their breeders all the time. Japro has shown theirs alot of times also. Some of the viet breeders do the same. Rarefish also shares his breeders sometimes.

I have never seen the discussion before, I guess it was edited before I had a chance to look at it.

To answer your question, If you cross a ZZ(including RD) with a JK, you will end up with normal non-faded ZZ, while some will fade(all fade at different times, some even at 10+"), and you can call them just JK, flame, or faded ZZ depending on looking at the characteristics of each piece. Those that have faded, you can call it a flame if the red spreads far back to the tail, a JK if it looks like a normal JK and red upto half of the body, and a faded ZZ if you can see the faded flowerlines(white in color). You also consider the fins/tail also to name them correctly.

As for which fish to go for, it's totally a personal reference. Which one ever YOU like is the one you should choose. Some like non faded fish, while some prefer faded fish more.

Hope this helps.
