..despite it being against company policy? I bring it up because it is getting to that time of year when leaving the building at the end of the day, it is completely dark outside. I have a good 10-15 minute walk to my car. While I do live in a safe city, there have been two muggings of my co-workers in the year Ive been here. One victim was beat to a pulp sadly.

I work in your typical office so no children or anything around. I know concealed means concealed but on one hand if something happens I could get fired but on the other hand being a victim is worse.

Input?

Edit To Add: None of what I have suggested I may do is breaking any local, state, or federal laws, just company policy. My company also forbids the storage of firearms in employee vehicles on company policy which is AGAINST the state law for any employer to do that.

ccw? What is that?

Oh. Carry Concealed Weapon.

Absolutely! Are you kidding me? I carry a blade wherever I go....

Err, while you are correct, you technically need a CCW permit to cary a knife other then ordinary hunting knives concealed, I am meaning more along the lines of a firearm.

Ooo. I don't know about a gun. A knife I carry without hesitation, and have been carrying since I was about 13. I have gone to school in some rough areas....(Inner-city Baltimore, anyone?)

A gun? I dunno. If it came down to it, and the area was that bad, I probably would.

I kind of live by the motto of, "dont bring a knife to a gun fight." If the situation is sticky enough to resort to the use of a blade then it means its a VERY bad situation in which in 99% of peoples hands, a gun would be better to have.

In other words I wouldnt pull a knife in a spot I wouldnt pull a gun like you are saying. Each should be the ultimate last resort.

Absolutely. I don't go around flashing my blade, and showing everyone I carry it. I have never had to pull it out to defend myself, nor do I want to.

I guess I just have a healthy fear of guns. However, that healthy fear won't stop someone from jumping me :(

there is nothing wrong with carrying a knife if it is for self defense imo

I would if i could. Granted i live in Commiefornia where its impossible to get a CCW, but i would carry. Too many crazies out there. Even in the workplace itself. How many times have we seen rampages at work?

I might wear slacks and ties everyday, but i still have my trusty little CRKT blade. never leave home without it. Our main building has access by keycard only, but im at a seperate building which is open to the general public. Anybody could walk in.

So yeah, if i had a CCW i would carry EVERYWHERE. even where youre not allowed to have one. havent you noticed that stuff always pops off in the places where you least expect it?

Not a huge fan of CRKT. Good blades, but made in China. I am more of a Kershaw and Ka-Bar man myself. Also love me a good Buck.
