I really don't care about the ads, I burn .0001 calories each time I scroll past them, so I think it's a good weight loss program.

But seriously I don't mind them, also more signature space would take as much space as the ads do on a page; more actually depending on how many "members" are posting on that page.

Not at all, just suggesting that you lighten up that is all. Because I've noticed everything you post has an underlying bitter theme to it. And I just don't know why someone that seems to be bothered by everything that goes on here would even bother spending so much time here in the first place.

The same could be said about you :) but I'm not here to argue/fight with anyone. sorry my opinion doesn't always match your's.

i wonder how a premium mfk membership weight lose edition would work? 10x as many ads...

Hey you guys, take it easy. I just thought for some reason me and Ballinout were tight enough I could say derrr in good humor but I misjudged. We're past that now, lets please move on. :chillpill:

I have seen forums that offer a premium lifetime membership. They charge $50 for it. You may want to consider that option as well. The Lifetime members would get all the benefits of the premium member but only pay a one time fee of $50 instead of a yearly fee of $10-15.

If the ads were removed from the pages of "Premium Members" who pay to avoid them , that would take from MFK's appeal to advertisers. It's all about ad impressions for ALL MFK members. The site's appeal includes numbers of membership. If members want to make a charitable donation, you can't allow them to opt out on viewing ads. Membership eyes on ads is what encourages advertisers to buy ad space on the site.

I don't think it'll be too difficult to find advertisers on the net. The people that opt into a premium membership would probably be around 1/10 of the total members on the site. It would all balance itself out.

Plus the site would get money from folks who opt in for the premium membership...it might make actually be better considering how many of the total members probably use ad blocking plugins with their browsers.

Either way, the simplest thing to do would be to throw up more merch in the mfk store.

:iagree:

bump!

Even as a newbie I'd gladly pay. I pay for membership for a couple of local forums. Each is a one time fee that costs about as much as a decent book, yet I've gotten priceless amounts of information, camaraderie, and freebies from my fellow members.

On that subject, on my soap box - only briefly looking through the forums I can't believe the sense of entitlement so many members here have considering that this is a free forum. Obviously there are many, many gracious members, but a surprising number that gripe about what's available, how much it costs, why they can't have something else, etc.

The last post on this thread was almost a month ago. I thought it was a dead horse that had exhausted itself, but now it's being ressurected. Here we go . . .
