PLZ GET A BIGGER TANK. or get rid of the turts. its too cramped, probably WAY to dirty, and thats probably y he has an infection. your going to need like a 200 gallon tank at least!

First of all, never introduce new animals without some sort of quarantine. You say the softshell was already sick, now all of the animals in this tank may have what it died from. Putting a bunch of turtles together in a small tank is a great way to spread diseases, parasites, and stress. Now that you have an injured turtle, it must be isolated from the others. Since you are not able to provide any proper medical attention, isolation is your best bet. I agree with a previous post that a twice daily application of iodine or betadine will help cure/prevent infection on the wound. I disagree with others that say you need another tank. You need many other tanks, and I hope you are aware of the need for UV lighting on most turtles, especially babies.

Like its already been said, these problems have probably come from having such a large amount of turtles in such a small tank, i dread to think what the water quality must be like as i think they produce straight ammonia from their waste, what is the setup like and whats the filtration you use? Also in your sig it says you have 21 turtles, where do you keep the rest?

the other turtles are in outside ponds and stuff. and i already divieded the turtles into seperate tanks. the water was crystal clear to begin with and the ally snapper is ok now. i put some stuff on it and it has begun to heal.

Im not being nasty but you should make it your priority to know, go out and buy a full test kit they are usually around £20 and they test for PH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate etc... or you can buy testing strips which check everything, you need to know what the water is actually like and it would be a good idea to know what your PH is like aswell.HerpHunter77;4297664; said:
