WOW! Any Idea how this was done?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Fishing line from top and bottom would minimize swaying.

Bingo!!

Found a thread on another site where he explains it. There is a close up pic of the island on it too.

"Thank for all appreciation and comment!
The whole structure is a reverse T shape plastic grid, use the suction cup hold on the back glass, it provide enough support for me to plant and even put some some rock on it. But it do collapse one time during the regular maintenance. After the moss growth, the whole structure is hidden behind the grass."

I don't like to use fish line as I want even you watch in front of the tank, the floating island still dangle without support"

Linkage... http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/forumapc/aquascaping/68580-beyond-nature.html

I am definitely trying this. I just picked up a 125gal last Friday and will be giving this a try. I had planned on doing some over the top aquascaping, and sense I am a man with mass amounts of patience, I believe I could make this work. I will keep you all updated and start a thread on it.

Getting this tank started will be a long process as I am having to purchase things over time due to money. Not entirely sure how long it will be until I start this project. I am also not sure if I will be following his exact ways of doing it. We shall see!

Called it! :grinno:

That looks soooo friggin killer! I'm doin it! I'd love to do that & a sand waterfall in my lobby tank... While I'm a firm believer in the value of simple design, I think I would "box" the T-structure to make it hollow (maybe 1/2-inch empty space inside?) & fill it with some plastic floating pellets before anchoring it to the back wall. That way I could load some rock on there & make the effect even more wild. I use the pellets to make floating planter boxes & they are much more stable & flexible than styrofoam IMO...

I'm going to add you as a friend. Let's see if we can trade some ideas or something.

See, what I am confused about is the T-Structure. What is that exactly? Picture? Link?

Thanks!

Suction cups on the back of the platform. Cheeky bastard.
