You should be excited, they only get more beautiful as they age. Keep lots of fiber in his diet, they can be prone to bloat and bacterial troubles. I'd recommend feeding him some peas at least twice a week.
Cute EBJD! I had to search very hard to find one in my area, and initially bought two little guys, about 1.5". One didn't make it, but the other is now about 4", healthy and strong!
Here are some pics of my EBJD (looks just like yours!):
When I first got him, early December (December 4th, to be exact!) at about 2"
A little bigger (taken January 4th) at a little over 3"
Taken yesterday at close to 4"! His growth rate has been off the charts for an EBJD!
wow, that third pic of the ebjd is AWESOME, and that clown loach is also looking good. I really would like to get a school of loaches in with him. but they are more on the pricey side for a school (well atleast for me lol)
The clowns are great! I started with one, but added 2 more and they are so happy together! They're fun fish - I'd get 10 if I had the room for them.
One of the clowns cracks me up - he keeps landing on the ebjd and just sits on him, like he's tired and wants a piggyback ride. I swear I can see the ebjd roll his eyes before shaking him off, lol.

Hey as for the clown loaches being expensive...you're right they definitely can be. However you should check around and see if there's a petsmart near you that seems to have healthy stock. I know some of them can be pretty shoddy but there's one near me that's actually pretty good. The reason I say this is they put different fish on sale every month and every few months they put clown loaches on sale half off so they're only like $4.50. I have a shoal of about 12 or 13 in my 75 gallon and of this most recent group I only lost I think 1 (it's kind of hard to tell because they're so active they're difficult to count but I haven't found any other dead bodies).
The one I did lose I kind of expected...I went in one day to pick up a few more before the sale ended but there was only one and it was very skinny and sickly. It was at that point where you kind of knew it was going to die but the poor little guy was so sad, trying to school with the bala sharks I felt bad for it. I just couldn't leave there without him so I bought him and brought him home. He survived for a couple of weeks but just never really put on weight. He did shoal around with the others while I did have him, I just think he was too weak. Poor little guy but the others I have are still doing great.
