possibly..i wont deny that..i am still new to this pbass world..just luckly I dont feed them live anymore havent for a few days..and yup never a dull moment in my fish room lol..gotta make mistakes n learn from them..

Feeding live is fine, you just have to be careful. One never stops learning in the fish keeping hobby. That's what keeps it interesting. :)

Gravel traps debris, making it harder to keep clean. Debris tend to sit on top of sand, making it easier to clean. If I use a substrate in a tank, I use pool filter sand. It's cheap, looks good, and won't raise your PH, something you really don't want with Amazonian fish.
 
what would you suggest for my 180? I gotta brighten it up..i ordered the lights u sent me the link to..

Well, if you mean in terms of substrate, I would use pool filter sand. It's light colored, and should make a big difference with the new lighting. This combo should be plenty bright enough. You don't really want super bright like a reef tank, because it can make SA fish uncomfortable.
