that is exactly what i thought about the biomedia... so i recently added like 10 packs of scrubbies... but i guess only time will tell there... and i never even thought about the return leaving microbubbles but i reall dont think it is that... when i let me return run a little slow it oushes bubbles through and all the bubbles actually help to clear up the water... but i honestly think that this whole milky water and algae have something in common... what are some ideas on why or what would prevent algae from growing... i think there is honestly a link between the two... i could be completely wrong and off there... but the only algae that will ever show up is diatom... small and brown.... i actually did a gravel change last night because i absullutely hated the gravel in the tank so i syphoned it down into my sump (so i didnt loose my beneficial bacteria) and just added the new in... the old sand would always keep dirt and other stuff down there (being black sand i couldnt see it) and the sand i added is pool sand... and i completely love this... i really appreciatwe the response from everyone and am anxious to hear more...

How long has this tank been running?

Do you have any other aquariums that exhibit the same problem?

Tank has been running for about 11going months... I recently set up another 125 with none of these problems at all... that's what blows my mind....

Does your drift wood feel slimey? I have a feeling this might be a key factor in your tank, does your other tank have Drift wood from the same source?

No drift wood in the other tank... you think this wood is making my water white though? It doesn't feel slimey though.. just like wet wood... I am willing to try anything though ...

Well sometimes fungus grows on DW but usually it would go away. When you touch your drift wood does it feel Solid or spongy? What kind of wood is it if you know by anychance.

Well heres what I think you should do, a pic would be nice, but I really think its a fungus from your DW however its werid that its not going away on its own. Notice your filters or anything clogging up? Anyways get the wood and scrub and boil it for about 15- 20 min. While your scrubbing take note if it begins to fall apart. It might be the Rotting wood in your tank creating the "white stuff"

yer i agree about the drift wood , smell it - when drift wood is not quite ready for use it can go furry but it will stink ... also what piping are you using for your sump ? if your using cheap waste pipe for your plumbing tihs could also be a problem

How long ago was it that you put the scrubbies in? What's your stocking? And what size tank?

I think it's media unless you say the new scrubbies have been in for more than 4 wks

Ok well tonight the tank looks so much clearer... b ut I know as soon as I do a water change it will be right back again
