Wrong address on overnight shipment

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Best case scenarios I can imagine are the address on file is either a non existent location,no one is present to receive the package or someone does receive it,rejects and immediately returns the package to the sender.
I had a similar situation a week or so ago, there wasn't fish involved but the shipment of the package was equally time sensitive....after repeated delivery attempts at the wrong address the carrier returned the package to the seller who in turn reshipped to me.
Hope all turns out well and please keep us ppsted.

Oh dear, that sounds horrible. Sorry that happened. I really hope that won’t be what happens with the fish.
I called the seller(owner) at just after 6am. I let him know what happened and he said that ups is usually pretty good at fixing it.He made a note and said they’d be in the office at 7 and will call with any updates. I really hope this sorts it all out!

Alright. They emailed my husband and said they contacted ups with the change and there shouldn’t be any delays. Ups also shows a change has been made. I can’t see the change, but it’s at least reassuring that it says it was made.
In addition to this mess we might be shorted a koi. One of the ones I really wanted too. They did say they will work with us on fixing it if one is missing. I’m hoping it was just a typo on the invoice and that they all made it into the box. I’m not sure I can handle going through this again if we need them to ship the missing fish.
Such a stressful experience, but at the same time the company has been very helpful and kind through this so far.

I have ordered online multiple times from multiple outlets with varying levels of frustration, anger and finally sadness. Out of them all only 3 clown loaches and 2 festival chuckled (one of which was a replacement for one that was already dead) have survived. One of the festival has never been quite right and is back in the hospital tank. Perhaps the covid lock down produced delays but they don't give a crap what the package says or how much you paid for shipping. I hope I never get so jaded that I can ignore a "live animal" stamp on a box as I hurl it on the porch at 930pm and scamper off.

Festivus ciclid. Not festival chuckle. Stupid spell check!

Listen bud, a lot of us have ordered fish through the mail before and this is a rare occurrence. If I read it correctly then the reason the address was wrong is due to your husband which would make it not the fault of the shipper or the company used to ship the fish so you can not blame them for the bad experience you are experiencing.

I will tell you right now from my personal experiences that I have ordered at least a dozen different orders online and beside the occasional death whether it be from doa( which was rare) or not adapting well to my water parameters I only experienced 1 significant mistake which was when the site I bought some shrimp from literally forgot to bag the shrimp and shipped me a bag of water which they corrected and sent me the shrimp without charging me the shipping again.

The whole point of my post is to encourage you to not give up on shipping. I think I did an ok job. What I’d do is go with a good vendor from our site to build up your confidence with your next order or two. Wes is good, I highly recommend him. He once sent Viktor, thebiggerthebetter, a 1k pleco by mistake and in order to make the customer happy he said for him to keep the pleco and sent him the right fish on top of the pleco. He is a fantastic guy who does right by his customers so he will do right by you if you order from him.

I’m so frustrated and upset!
My husband so kindly ordered koi for me over the phone. Sadly, I was looking at the invoice to find the tracking number when I noticed my street number is wrong! ?
Im completely panicking and don’t know what to do. I looked on ups’s website and can’t change it there. Their call center won’t open till 7am. UPS’s website said to contact the sender with address issues. I called the koi farm emergency line and left a message. Then I emailed them too.

What else can I do?!
I’m so worried my koi will get stuck in limbo and die????? This is my first time having fish shipped and it’s already a nightmare!?
I would go to the address and talk to who lives there, maybe they’ll let you know when the koi arrive and you can go get them

I think you may have misunderstood. I was so panicked I might not have expressed myself very well. I wasn’t blaming the company. The street number was obviously heard wrong because saying them both out loud, they sound almost the same. So who can be blamed in that situation? My husband obviously knows our address and didn’t get it wrong. This is just unfortunately what can happen when giving numbers over the phone. I understand that. I was just so stressed because it was time sensitive.
Im sure I won’t completely write off ordering fish online. But it will always remain my least favorite way to buy. I like seeing what I’m getting in person and doing my own transporting.

I had thought about it.

I am happy to report that the koi arrived, at my address. It was a late in the day delivery because I’m at the end of their route. I was so happy to see my box!
I was also happy to see that there were 8 koi in the bag, not the 7 the invoice said. So all koi made it. Sadly the 8th koi is not the one I ordered. I think it was sent as a substitute. Two others were substitutes as well. This one they never let me know ahead of time that it wasn’t available, just that they would need to check.
In the end, all the koi looked good and have settled in well. The company acted very fast to correct the address and assured me that ups was good about corrections. And they were right:)

I know I panic way too easily?. Thank you guys for your advice and hanging in there with me.

Sounds like a stressful situation, I'm glad it worked out for you. I recently ordered fish for the first time, and my experience was great. Don't give up on mail order fish, you can get some of the best stock available this way.
