Sean... How many tanks are you looking to use this for?/How many in the future?

Well, I'm thinking I'll use it to power ALL my tanks (in addition to canisters) and hook just the pump to a battery backup power supply. This is a preventative measure in case the electricity goes out and the filters shut down there will only be one draw/one piece of equipment on the battery backup therefore saving my entire collection. Thinking it'll power 3 - 270 gallon tanks and probably 6-9: 60 gallon tanks. Each 270g. tank will have 4 sponges and the 60's will have about 2 per tank.

I am running over 100 tanks presently, so the one I got fits the bill. Very efficient as well. But yes, it was expensive. Good luck with your search.

Thanks Kelly. 100 tanks huh? Very impressive collection! I don't have the time for maintenance, space and/or money to suppliment that electricity bill!

Lets see this collection bud! Post some pics!

Ok...you asked for it. As those on here may not know, I own Kelly's Aquatic Rescue Services (KARS) and Finned Friends. I started KARS about 3 years ago. It was such a hit, I was losing money fast as rescues normally do. To not be reliant on others to keep my rescue open, I started to breed angelfish. The money that is made goes right back into the rescue to keep it operatable. So all my saving and then some within the past year went into building another new fish room. The cost of this expansion almost 20 grand. I decided to go with Jehmco for the pump to run all my tanks, and spent over $8500 to put in a new central air and furnace system. This eliminated the need to purchase individual heaters and pay electric for all those. All my tanks, tops, and some supplies were purchased from Drs. Foster Smith. The stands my husband built and did a fantastic job as well as redid the basement. We are in the process now of building an automatic water change system as I am having trouble keeping up with water changes on 100 tanks. (Go figure) ;)

Anyhow, I have another thread going with some items up for sale. All proceeds go back into the rescue. As many may not know, the big $8500 furnace expense was and still is a major disaster. Seeing the contractor did not do any heat load calculations he took me for a ride. He installed a system that should only be worth less than half of what he charged me. I do not have enough heat runs or cold air returns so in return my equipment is working 3 times harder than it should and keeps burning up parts. It has broke down well over 40 times already and my Public Service bills have tripled due to the equipment malfunctions. This is all in the hands of the local police and DA's office for charges of fraud. Until that gets settled and I can recoup some money to fix this disaster, we are fighting to remain open. Donations are always welcome or whenever I get extra supplies in they will go up for sale to support the rescue. Anyhow, here are some pictures of my upper fish room and lower expansion fish room. If you wanna see some pictures of some of the fish I have rescued let me know. I have a large number of pictures both of the tanks, rooms and fish. It was hard just to pick a few to stick on here.

Again, good luck on your air pump. You won't be disappointed if you go with a linear one. I am so noise picky and as I said you have to listen very close to even know it is running.

thanks for the pics. The floor is nice and clean. You're so organize. How much is your electric. I take it that your tanks are in the basement so it's should not be that bad.

We painted the floors with concrete paint. I have approx 60 tanks downstairs and 40 upstairs. My electric is over $700 per month now. But I disconnected all internal heaters, went from like 60 plus little air pumps to one, weatherized my house...added more insulation etc, put in all new energy efficient light bulbs. Brand new energy efficient fridge and freezer and my bills are extremely high. My HVAC equipment is working so hard it is costing more to run. Only thing that should have increased is my water bill. :(
