Anyone have a near mint/mint/connection for one of these? Looking for the kit, but will pay for extras.

If you plan on buying extra lenses I would also look for a D50 or 80

Well I don't necessarily plan on buying them during the initial investment, but if a good deal crosses my path, I don't want prospective sellers to withhold mentioning them, ya know?

Also worth mentioning, I'm also considering a Rebel XTi. Its a matter of which one I come across first.

price range? ebay's got complete XTi's with 18-55's for 570-590, and D40's for less, D40X's for similar to XTi's.

No real price range. I've got my eye on Ebay but want to give the forums I belong to a chance to pull through.

i'd offer you my D70, but i'm not sure if i want to dump the doe for a D300 yet, so i can't. (highly considering it though) mint condish. 4000 accuations or so. would sell with kit 18-70 lens and all paper work, 2-4 battery packs, 1 GB memory card, and a small black camera bag. ($575).

put this up on APF, you'll get alot more bites there.

Skip the XTI and get the 30D if you go with Canon. Bought a 40D and sold the XTI. The XTI is too small in my hands and doesn't feel as sturdy as a 30D or 40D. I think you can get a 30D used for around $500-$600 and a brand new one, just the body, for $800 at B&H.

My cousin had the D200 sold it and got the D300.

Watchout, photography is a very expesive hobby that gets addicting as Aquariums.

best place to get a D40 is probably craigslist. most of the time people buy D40s and then a few months later upgrade to a D80 or D300 so you can find some nice deals there. there's also nikonians.org and fredmiranda.com if you want to buy online. those two are photography forums so most of the time the equipment you buy there are well taken cared of.
