Tainted Glory - As mentioned POTN is a great site. There are also some rebates for lens from Canon currently. Cheapest L lens for a walk around is the 17-40L F4 (around $600), have it and looking to sell it to get the 17-55 2.8 IS (pricey though at around $1000K). You can also get the kit lens (28-135 IS) for the 40D to use on a 30D for around $300 brand new from someone, I sold mine at that price a week after I got the 40D. Keep in mind the number of actuations (SP???) pictures the camera is rated for in the 30D is 100K and the XTI is at 50K, this might be the same as the XSI. If you haven’t done so get a friend with an XTI and 30D and go back and forth with how they feel in your hand, or go to Bestbuy and hold both. I had the XTI for about 13 months and always felt small, once I got the 40D (which is pretty close to the same size as the 30D), it felt better in my hand, the XSI is about the same size as the XTI. XSI also uses SD cards instead of the CF cards for memory so keep that in mind, you go with the XSI and up grade later to a 30D, 40D, 5D you’ll have to get new memory cards. As someone already suggested getting used is another route to take. Craigslist, ebay, camera message boards are places to look. Good luck.
