The link I submitted is a reputtable source. It is one of a few articles from peer reviewed literature, that is about as reputable as you can get when looking at herp behavior.
 
Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to be chippy about it. I was just taught to be very suspect about the use of terms such as "always" and "never" especially when talking about animal behavior. I do agree that in most cases we are most likely looking at dominance issues or breeding behaviors but I believe there is more to it in some instances and as herp keepers it is good to keep our minds open to the possibilities.
