So is it a disease, or an ornamental strain?? They look like curled scales to me...the pearlescence, uniformity and apparent rigidity of it seem to suggest it...Thing is, I don't think saratoga have scales on that part of their head...Whatever it is, the only way to fix it would be a machete to the head...

Yes, lionhead arowana. I'm searching for a thread in AC as there was a deep discussion about this fish. Will get back to you once I find it.

Edit: I believe TMDragon may be able to locate it while I am away as he was one of those who discussed about it as well.

There is a limit to how "exotic" a fish can look. I'll still cringe no matter how often I see this pic.
