What foods did you feed them? Are you sure you didn't overfeed judging from the phrase 'they ate loads'?

Just some sinkin pellets. Thats what im thinking did they over eat. beacuse the same thing happened the last time i lost a little cichla. But i didnt really put a lot in there.

When they gobbled the food, are some food still floating? Did they eat at the surface? Perhaps they gobbled up some air which may explain why they died. Any issues with the swim bladder may prove fatal to young fish more than it can to adults.

No it was sinkin hikari carnivore pellets they ate from the bottom.

Is this food definitely new? How long have you used that particular package? I just noticed something missing. How long have you kept these small cichlas? Tank size and tankmates?

Man Bruce I am so sad to hear the news bro!

I wish I could help you here. It does sound like any other Cichla, they gorged themselves to death. Since I don't feed Pellets to my small cichla I can't really speak on the condition/negitive effect's that over feeding pellets will have on small cichla or what could of happened to your Tem. Keep your head up man. Sorry again for your loss bro.
