I just lost an albino Discus to my common plec on Saturday:cry: .
now the plecs have their own tank. Let them try to suck on each other!
Discus and plecs don't mix to well, unless it is a docile pleco.

something is wrong with the cichlid it would not normaly sit there and allow that to happen i say its days are numbered and the plecu was just enjoying a easy meal it shouldent happen to the rest of your healthy fish.

It depends on the size, and species of the pleco. As they get larger commons will actively hunt fish, and are actually very adept carnivores.

So very true!!! Cichlids are too fast and energetic to allow another fish to suck on it. The cichlid may have a fungal or bacterial infection.

Actually many of the "common plecos" will begin to actively hunt out foods high in protein. I actually just caught my chocolate pleco hunting and even taking down fish. Found him with a brilliant rasbora in his mouth that he dropped on. When they get big enough they will sit in waiting for fish to swim by and drop on top of them. Even a healthy cichlid is no match. This particular pleco has taken down 3 yellow labs, uncountable tetras, rasboras and barbs, and even 2 african butterfly fish. He, however, does not leave a trace behind if given the chance.

yup, plecos are fast, and good at "catching" if they want too. they are just so persistant, they always win lol.

thanks i dint know plecos did stuff like that...that explains why some of my moms peacocks died...the looked dry, beaten, and white...maybe it was the 6" albino sailfin...and not one of the other peacocks in that tank...ps i raise peacocks at my moms hows cause she likes the sunshine and eurekas...i know alot of people hate peacocks...but hey nice fish are nice fish plus its for me mums...anywho thanks for informing the uninformed.
