While I do think $45 is low, I have to agree partially to the fish "depreciating". A lot of hobbyist get a lot of joy from raising juveniles to large sizes. So juveniles are usually higher in demand. As a fish gets big and the average enthusiast can no longer accommodate them your looking at a much smaller audience of potential buyers. Plus those with tanks big enough usually have those big tank because they've been raising fish to impressive sizes all there own. So they usually don't have room for the fish you no longer have the means to take care of. So your potential buyers shrink again, and all business is relative to demand. The less people want something the less it costs. So probably as a private seller which limits you again to people within traveling distance the price drops significantly. Alot of times people have a hard time giving away a large arowana. So sorry it'll probably be a hard sell and you'll be disappointed with what you get. Just my 2 cents.
yeah i like to watch mine grow too but alot of people around where i live like to buy them grown because they have large fish and only one tank and i would keep him before i would sell him for 45 and i can sell him to the Fish store i got him from for 80+

Yeaaaaa...The store is highly unlikely to be buying your aro for 80+. Stores usually only buy your fish for 30-40% of the price they will sell it at, sometimes even less. You should be happy to even get 45 for it.

Hey bud why so defensive.. You ask for peoples opinions then when it's not what you want to hear you say smart *** comments? If you think silver arrowana are rare you are clueless people on this site can't even give big ones away. And I had about 25 things to say about Tennessee but I'll be the bigger man here. Good luck

its called a joke don't cry over it its just the price of things aren't the am all over the US and its ok i love Cheese

Maybe if it were a jardini you'd have better luck? Silvers are just too common. I see them in LFS all year round while the new shipment of Jardini fry only come around christmas till spring. By summer they're all semi big and those don't even sell. You would think a big arowana would be worth more but it's quite the opposite. People seem to enjoy raising them from youth. At a LFS some 4 years back, they had a 22 inch jardini that had been there for over 10 years? Even after the LFS priced him at 155 dollars from the original 400, no one bought it. Of course if you had an asian arowana then you can disregard everything I just said. People will buy those regardless of size and as long as they look good.
