It's back With a note from M$ saying, 'sorry we couldn't fix your console so here is a brand new one', 'we will start a new warranty from here as new for your trouble here's a month's worth of Live for free'

Basically sums it all up, you can't fault the service regardless of what you think about M$, no other company could do it at this cost to the business.

Anyway I've signed up to Live and I suck, I'm surprised, I expected to suck but on COD4 I've got 1000/1000 and on my first game I killed one person, the second game 3 kills. I'm putting it down to not knowing the maps

I had one that had the red rings, I sent it in and they sent me a different Xbox and a week later that one got the red rings. I called them to complain and they said they should never have sent me one that wasn't fixed so they sent me a statement saying if the brand new one they send me gets it they will upgrade me to an elite for free..
