They dont come with bio media, they come with 4 roughly 1" sponges 2 of different densities for the bottom tray, one bag of carbon, and as well it should come with one fine polishing pad for the top tray to catch fine particles, unless they changed them in the last month and a half!

Thats what mine just showed up with. I got a bunch of pot scrubbers laying around. I'm gonna use these to fill the voids.

Mine is up and running. I love it. Quiet and was easy to assemble. Used the spray bar but thinking of changing to the power jet nozzle.
