Xp3 or xp4

I have an xp3 on my 125 gal. Its 6 or 7 years old now and I can't keep the air out of it. Ive replaced almost everything on it including the disconnect all the gaskets and the hoses intake and spraybar and it's still sucking air into the chamber. So rather than pour more money into it (I've spent about $100 trying to fix it and should've just bought a new one to start). Anyways got a little off topic. My question is should I buy
1) xp4
Or
2) xp3 and ac110
Or
3) different brand/model

Stock is
125 gal
(2) oscars 3.5"
(1) convict 2"
(5) silver dollars 1.5"

Im not sure how true this is, maybe its one of those "forum rumours" but apparently the xp3 has the same size impellar and motor as the xp4. The only difference being is the extra media tray. If this is the case then i would go for the xp3. I recently bought a xp3 at pet mountain for $120 including shipping so at that price i would get 2 for the same price as one fx5

Older XP4 models may have had impellers closer in shape or size to the XP3, not sure when they changed over exactly. The XP4 impellers have an olive green plastic used in the impeller, the older style was grey. When I ordered my replacement impeller for the XP4, I received a new style impeller in a box form Rena with an old style picture on the label.

Here are some reference photos. The new style XP4 impeller is now three blades, a bit thicker blade and taller. The old style is six blades.

Since you know the tank functions well on this filter, I would go with a XP4 and an AC110.

The AC110 filters were on sale for $63.99 from petmountain.com and if you throw in another $12 worth of stuff to get your total over $75, then shipping is free too. http://www.petmountain.com/product/...-512916/aquaclear-aquaclear-power-filter.html

petmountain still has that deal going, that may be a good option too.

So the XP2 has the same impellar as the XP3 ?
