Xy. kyoga flameback?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
some time i have found that victorians need a little mixing up, if they are in a specific tank change the land scape, try to match the natural habitat, i have even had a fish that wouldnt color so i did a cold water change, not to cold but just to stimulate them. also sometime a little change in feeding time and diet, vics can be manipulated to color up but you just have to try diffrent things if not a species specific tank maybe the male isnt the dominant fish and some changes need to be made. but dont get to frustrated. it will all come out in the wash.

its a process, watch for coloring in the near future though cause i have females that do the shaking thing to (being territorial), so its not a definite sign, but that, eggspots, and slight coloring, starting to sound better :)

This one doesn't have the egg spots that is a couple of the new guys. I have had these ones for a couple months...I think. I didn't realize females do that also. So, I guess I'm back to being confused.

Ok, I have decided this has to be a male because I am 99% sure I have a female holding and there is no one else who could've done it. So now the dilema is...When males color up do they color up this slow or could someone be harassing him and therefore he doesn't show true colors? I have a couple fish I am going to have to get rid of because they are just a little too aggresive. Or, could he be a hybrid? I wouldn't think so because I got him in the same batch as the others including my dead male so they are probably related as it is. Next, what should I do with the female? If she is still holding next week at this time should I move her and see what the babies turn out like. I am just needing help as I am not sure what to do with this issue. HELP!!!

are they any other males that could of done it in the tank? if not i would say wait like a week, and if shes still holding when that time comes, put her somewhere by herself

There is only a male Sunshine Peacock but this Kyoga has been the only one looking like he was trying to spawn. I would say i am 99.9% sure he would be the culprit. Not saying the Sunshine couldn't have done it but he colors up when he is in the mood and he hasn't colored up into breeding colors. When you look at the pics of him does he look like a Kyoga who just isn't coloring up because of something? I will be getting rid of the "naughty fish this weekend so I guess that will be a telling point too if he colors up after they are gone.
